Beorn probably just misread the title of the thread.

I don't think the song is one of the best songs of the 20th century, but it's not bad.

emm, i dont like that one much either... its got a good beat, in fact, some really kickin drumming throughout, but i find the lyrics a little tiresome. im sure back in 1960whatever people were fainting and swooning over it, but then people also did that the first time they saw a car that went over 20mph. so i guess all im saying is that the beatles are the henry ford of the 60's, and that if you like strawberry fields you should buy breaches and a monocle,

I don't really like "Bike" by the early Pink Floyd. I love the latter Floyd, and some of the earlier material with Syd Barrett is good, but this song just seems so infantile.

that infantile-ness and playfulness is what makes psychedelic music what it is. Not exactly childish lyrics and melodies and such, but rather the aspect of experimenting etc.

edit: Probably rather unnecessary pointing that out in this forum..

Well playfulness okay, but "Bike" just sounds retarded to me.

I think there's also a big difference between infantile-ness and playfulness.

There is a difference and there is often a fine line that divides the two... I love Bike and its playful nature... The ending alone takes it out of the infantile mode to the scary, creepy mode in my opinion... But, I still like the childlike early portions as well because the lyrics are a bit "off" and weird, thus (when you thow in the end portion) makes it like a "Alice In Wonderland like" warped children's piece...
