See? Even non-Hendrix fans admit it

I wish some of the bands out there had at least a thimble full of the talent Hendrix had.

even if you dont like Hendrix's music you have to admit the way he played the guitar was amazing. I love Hendrix though. I havent read any other posts in this thread so i dunno whats going on. But I know he played left handed, but didnt he have to use his guitar upside down becaue there were no left handed ones?

Of course he is not overrated. He is a musical god. He is arguably the best guitar player of all time. He invented a certain style, that no one has quite mastered yet... but he has and continues to influence many of the great rockers of today-- The man played the guitar with his fucking teeth damnit, and it sounded good too.

It's hard for me to imagine how people could miss the greatness in stuff like "House Burning Down" or "Castles Made of Sand".... if for no other reason than to appreciate how difficult it is to duplicate that much soul, shake, and vibe in a musical instrument. He played that thing like it was a part of his body...not like he was pissed off waiting in line to use the pay phone like a lot of the new guitarists sound today.
It's like Holdsworth. I really can't stand his playing....but I know there's talent there....even if I'd rather listen to Ronnie Montrose or even Neil Young. You have to appreciate the greatness.

He was talented, doesn't mean he's not overated

He's a little overated, but only because any musician who dies early is praised as a music god, which Hendrix still is. However I see a lot of people make way to big of a deal out of the backwards guitar thingy, lots of people do it, my friends dad played stairway to heaven on an upside down acoustic and if you learn it that way then its not hard. Still he is one of the greatest ever and heavily influential to most of modern music.

And the link I provided above goes into a bit of that as well as why he ended up flipping the guitar around. It had to do with his father's religious views at the time he was first learning to play the guitar.
