I agree with you a lot there, but I like most hendrix songs, I think the way he plays his guitar calms me and I like the sound of how well he plays most of them, but some are impossible for me to sit down and listen to as a few people have already said I think.

thts the thing, i have to be in a certain mood to listen to hendrix, he's not a person tht i can pop his cd in and just listen to it straight through, i find my self skipping several songs.

I don't think he is overrated at all, especially when you consider what he did in such a small amount of time (like the doors). True, I have to be in a certain mood to listen to hendrix at length but at that point I could care less what songs I hear him play as long I hear him play them loud.

What you all have to remember is that Hendrix's only top 40 hit song was "All Along The Watchtower" so i think maybe he is overrated

I won't argue that..it doesn't sound right,but okay...but I'll wager the album stats are very good. When Hendrix ascended it wasn't cool to have hits...albums were the big thing.At any rate, it has nothing to do with his prowess as a musician.

I got it from my radio station, so don't blame me if its wrong lol. Their exact words (as the intro to All Along The Watchtower starts) "Hard to believe that this was Jimi's ONLY top 40 song"

Yeah, I woulda thought ''Fire" or "Purple Haze" made it, but maybe not. At any rate, albums were the big thing the "suits" were looking at during that period and my guess is Jimi did good business.

well when more than 30 years go by and people are still buying ur albums i'd think tht his album sales aren't to bad.

the grateful dead only had one hit, I believe, in "touch of grey" and what does that prove? Absolutely nothing, they still have a legion of fans and I bet they are one of the best selling groups of all time in terms of record sales considering how many albums, live albums they have.

The only difference between a hit and a regular song is that one produces more money than the other. Money does not equal influence, quality, musicianship, or creativeness.
