50,000 B.C. would be my choice. Back when the music was in it's purest undiluted form. They really had a swinging log rhythm section back then as well.

Now they were avant/garde in the original meaning of the word.

I say 40s and 50s - blues, jazz and rock'n'roll.

hey hey, rev, don't forget Holst!

The guy rocks my socks.

I wonder if they ever had a rock and roll lifestyle, all those orchestral members...

imagine the amount of groupies!!!

Composers, artists and writers were the original rock stars.

ehm I agree with Reverend Rock and Music Director on this one... there is/was good and bad music of every decade... it's just that the bad ones are usually not remembered in a later stage... or that's how it should be at least...
it seems fairly logic too that most people here should vote for the nineties as most of us grew up with the music from that decade... I'm voting for the eighties though... everyone thinks it's such a shitty decade, mainly because of the cheesy disco stuff, but there was some fantastic music being made too... though I'd rather have picked 1975-1985...

The 70s, without a doubt. I prefer the golden years 67-73, but if I have to pick one decade, it'll have to be the 70s.

I'd say 70's or now. I mean pretty much every cd I own was made in the 70's or these days... woth the exception of a great early 80's album... Back in Black, maybe you;ve heard of it?

60s were the peak for me. Music has slowly been going downhill since the start of the 70s.

Yeah, I agree. The current landscape is particularly barren.
