I think the strokes are quite good but I think they are pretty one dimentional and like you say they only have one good album. Their last album was pretty average that is a 50% strike rate, and they are quite boring live. I agree RH are pretentious but I am judging them on how well they can make an album, and how well they go live.

If I was also considering my personal taste, i would possibly vote sonic youth, QOTSA or fugazi. Or if I could vote for a single muscian I would say Neil Young, easily.

umm, NIN is still one of my favorite bands, the cure is a great band thts still around, tool/perfect circle are really cool, Aphex Twin makes some sweet beats, umm....the list goes on, i really can't decide a fav or best though, tht all depends on whos listening, plus most good modern music is underground.
