deicide / cannibal corpse / eyehategod / high on fire - also sound like fitting metal names...
thornley on the other hand (if it's the same group i'm thinking of) is most definately not metal... it's the singer from big wreck gone solo... and big wreck sounded like a watered down soundgarden to me...

The one that came to mind for me was Forest Stream, while its not exactly a metal name it describes their music almost perfectelly. Another good metal name Carcass.

True. Its fitting to the ambience of their music - not the genre, a very good example.
