deicide / cannibal corpse / eyehategod / high on fire - also sound like fitting metal names...

thornley on the other hand (if it's the same group i'm thinking of) is most definately not metal... it's the singer from big wreck gone solo... and big wreck sounded like a watered down soundgarden to me...

that is correct Black Sabbath was originally called Earth! They changed their name after they found out about another band called Earth.

im thinking.... spinal tap are originally called 'the originals' or something, until there is another band of the same name and they have to change it.

The one that came to mind for me was Forest Stream, while its not exactly a metal name it describes their music almost perfectelly. Another good metal name Carcass.
