Pink Floyd being sued
Pink Floyd is being sued for millions of dollars from former backup singer Clare Torry (singer in Great Gig In The Sky). She claims that the album says that the writers of the song are Roger Waters and Richard Wright, but she took part in writing it as well. For the complete story, look here
Anyways, my dream is for Floyd to perform again, and if they lose the money shes suing them for, they may HAVE to. I dont know if you agree with that (please tell me). Also, this lawsuit answers a question about Pink Floyd, Clare Torry didnt die, she is still alive.

...so...the question remains, why did she decide to bring this up now...it's only been 30+ years since the album was released...

She probably is broke.
And, odds are that they will not perform again. Waters and the rest of Pink Floyd don't get along to much anymore.

It is strange that it finally dawned on her that she didn't get credit for writing the song or royalties. It's not like it's some obscure song on some obscure record that hasn't been selling.
If the rumors about Syd's health are true, I wouldn't be suprised if the band got back together at least once for a memorial performance. I would give it a 30%+ chance.

Clare Torry's vocal on "The Great Gig In The Sky" is obviously an improvised wail, not a "melody" as such. It would be about like Joe Cocker claiming that his ad-lib alterations to the lyric and melody of Lennon/McCartney's "With A Little Help From My Friends" constituted a co-write. Pink Floyd's lawyers should have very little trouble getting this opportunist thrown out of court.

I really doubt that the band or their lawyers are that worried about this lawsuit.
I wonder if the lawsuit is being brought in the U.S. or UK? I don't know about UK laws on such matters, but if she loses the case in the U.S. she can end up having to pay the bands legal fees.

i cant see a judge not dismissing this case either, even if the judge sees the case i bet there would be an outside of court settlement

man; If she wanted to sue them, she had to do it 30 years ago. I think it's outdated!!
