Help?

I really want to get involved in electronic music and I have posted on here before asking what I need. Some of you guys offered up different Comp. programs, but I don't want to just sit down in front of a computer and use a program. No offense to the suggestions, I just didn't know what I was asking or how to go about asking. I want to use different things and tweek noises and such. So, where do computer programs come in to the mix and blah blah blah. Basically, I have no clue where to begin. I know nothing, please help. Thanks!

first of all, what kind of style of electronic music do you wanna make? in the other thread, you never explained to us or give us any info about what you wanna accomplish.

if you want hardwares, there are tons of stuff you can get, drum machines, synths, groove boxes, samplers, sampler + sequencer, etc.

or if you wanna use your computer with hardwares to play with, you can do that too.

there are TONS of choices out there, you gotta tell us more info so we can tell you more.

in addition, you almost cannot avoid some sort of programming on your computer. the computer is vital to the process..unless you're looking for an accoustic or free roaming sound.

well, for an ambient sound, i would highly suggest learning how to use plug-ins. being creative with hardware is almost key to ambient tracks.

I would suggest abrokenmusician to go to the nearest and the largest music instrument store, for example Guitar Center, and spend a day or two there to get familiar with all the syths, drum machines, groove boxes, softwares and stuff. don't worry, they will let you play with all the toys in there. yes, they do have computers set up with music softwares in them, they have that at the Guitar Center in Chicago.

then, he/she will have an idea what sounds like what and can produce what. that way, he/she can decide what needs to be purchased.

I don't know what Clark/Eno/BOC use to produce their tracks. maybe our mod, Equinox, knows...
