I know, I know...I couldn't resist...as the latter is more or less the successor to the former, I think this type of thread is appropriate.

Assuming that you were in some sort of life-threatening situation that required you to listen to either style of music for 24 hours straight, which would you choose? Do you think there are any positive qualitities one has over the other? Keep in mind that you have to choose one for the poll so you'll have to find some sort of logical reasoning to suport your vote, assuming that you're not already a huge fan of one of these styles.

Come on...someone has to bite eventually....

I would prefer nu-metal by far. Its just watered down and with mostly lame lyrics but then it is also downright catchy and easily accesible. Also I do enjoy bands like System of a Down and Mudvayne. Hair metal on the on is horrible by all counts.

nu-metal.....they have angry shouts..meaningless lyrics...& crappy music but as chiron said its still catchy.Mudvayne is something which even i enjoy more than these poodle rock bands..

This is like choosing between electrodes on the genitals, or Chinese water torture.

I'll go for hair-metal, for two reasons:

1. Hair metal bands looked ridiculous, played ridiculous music, and led ridiculous lives, whereas nu-metal seem to think they're artists of some kind, rather than flogging a dead horse.

2. *looks around, to see if the coast is clear* I used to like WASP.

I think I would choose the electrodes or the water over these musical styles.

I think both genres have a spectrum of shockingly bad bands through to just bad bands.

If you include SOAD as new metal I would pick new metal, I also don't mind papa roach and Korns first album wasn't too bad.
Hair metal as big around the time I was very much into death and thrash metal, and I developed a deep hatered of it.

So I think I would choose NU metal unless it was limp biscuit that they played all day, in which case I think I would do some harm to myself.
