Charles Mingus Sextet with Eric Dolphy - Cornell 1964 does sound pretty attractive. Too bad re-releases and new finds tend to outweigh actual contemporary recordings, or at least seem to.

You should have had it already! The only acceptable reason that doesn't involve The Squirrels is finances.

From the how many times can we get suckers to buy the same thing dept.
"Verve Records will unleash Coltrane originals, restored and remastered and in digipak packaging to best replicate the original look and feel of the albums. Albums include The Complete Africa/Brass Sessions, Live at the Village Vanguard, Coltrane, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, Ballads, and a Limited Edition slip-cased Box set that houses all of these 5 Impulse reissues. This first salvo will be joined by future reissues of Coltrane classics in a collector’s setting. These individually available and Boxed set will be released on October 30."
Keep in mind all these have already been reissued and in digipaks, even. If you don't have these, I would suggest waiting to see which suckers sell the last reissues so they can buy these and then get those used.

If you have been around here long enough you have heard me drop knowledge on these two ESSENTIAL recording by Anthony Braxton & Horace Tapscott....hat hut is finally reissuing the Braxton (it's one of his most sought after recordings) and re-re-reissuing the Tapscott.
There is currently no release dates.....but you no longer need to sell a kidney to pick up either of these if you somehow find copies.
Anthony Braxton - Willisau (Quartet) 1991
Horace Tapscott Quartet - The Dark Tree

Another WTF? box set from Transparency is on the way.
SUN RA
Live at the Horseshoe Tavern (Toronto 1978)
10 CDs [ £22 plus postage] Transparency 0310
An opportunity to assess Ra – and the Arkestra’s – work in context. Earlier LPs and. CDs have always had to be always extracts or edits from Ra’s typically long concerts. These 10 CDs document three full concerts from March, September & November 1978 at the Horseshoe Tavern - offering over 8 hours of excellent music, well recorded and available for the first time to the public (none have ever even been on bootleg lists). This is a chance to experience the flexibility and vast repertoire of the Arkestra, the way sets were organised and how they constantly changed. In a limited edition of 500 copies, so please order quickly.
If you want to order this or to add it to your order, please mail us. This set is apparently ready and being packed; it will ship with the other set. We will not deduct any money for this until the goods are mailed to you but recommend you order soon if you want it.
News of two more forthcoming Ras:
1. Deluxe re-mastered reissue of the classic Media Dreams, with an extra CD of previously unreleased material from the same sessions. Exquisite new packaging based on hand-drawn cover of original Saturn release. One of the great small ensemble releases. Pre-order for double CD, £15.
2. Deluxe reissue of the vanishingly rare 1978 El Saturn release Some blues but not the blues that's blue; small ensemble with Ra. Allen, Gilmore, Davis, Jacson ,Omoe, Ebah and rhythm section. Studio recordings. This carefully made reissue comes with three extra tracks and a booklet with rare photos and liner notes by John Corbett. Pre-order £10.
Order now and we supply as soon as they are released; we don’t take money before the goods are sent.
Reply to rermegacorp@dial.pipex.com or mail us to pre-order.
Thanks, and Happy New Year!

I checked their website but it doesn't seem to be up yet...am I understanding correctly that this a ten CD set, limited to 500 copies, that costs only 22 pounds?

Like the WTF? Complete Detroit Jazz Center Residency which was a limited edition of only 400....I would guess it's cd-rs.
My understanding is they will be getting that box set, as well. You might want to check with them on that and their price.
DMG and Dusty Groove have it or will be getting it, as well.....but probably at a higher price.
