sorry bout that last post (and the last post i posted for some time) not sure what was going through my head at that time, but whatever it was, it was crap, and i apoligize. while i don't like emo, it is for completely different reasons than i quoted (the positive emotions comment was stupid, positive emotions are perfectly allright when theres reason to be happy, and positive emotions aren't the focus of emo at all, so why was that even there. I had obviously never heard any emo, real or false.). The real problem with emo is that it's entirely based upon rich children complaining about whatever curcumstance has befallen them. rather than complain about the unchangeable, they might want to just accept it and move on to things outside their own existance. the core problem with emo is, i feel, it's complete self centeredness. the songs are about their experiences, their experiences only, and whineing about those experiences without any concern for the world as a whole or those in the third world. This is holiday in cambodia all over again. (as in the problem described in the song, rich kids whineing, not the song itself. DK is my favorite band, don't get me wrong, though they did sell their asses out to a spectacular level. though looking at 6025 songs, it could be argueed that early DK was emo as well. something to ponder)

foward to death and straight A's? not emo per se, but definately very depressed (lyricly at least) . I wouldn't know if emo just has to be depressed, or if there are other criterion, so if anyone could enlighten me, i would apreciate it.
definately not emo love songs though

There is no specific meaning or classification of genres. Unlike science u cant put ALL music into different category. Emo may be viewed as different styles of music by different ppl, there is no point in arguing about something that has no fixed meaning.

Very few things have definate fixed meanings. You've just thrown almost all philosophy out the window . . .

Some Dead Kennedys songs might have somewhat sad lyrics, but they are not presented in a way that is at all similar to emo in my opinion. Bands like Rites of Spring and Drive Like Jehu (both of which I like) I could see as a forerunner to Emo though.

I believe the term "emo" is used extremely loosely now-a-days, at least it should be. I use the term emo, simply to refer to the genre, because that's what people know it as, but like I said, I use it loosely.
The term emotional technically describes all music. Name one thing that you put your mind and heart into, one thing that your so passionate about that you can't even fathom the excent of your love for it....that isn't emotional. If music isn't emotional, then it's not music, by my opinion. Even death metal is emotional...Music is supposed to make you feel...feel what the artist is feeling...feel what your mind connects the sound with....feel at least something...anything...but feel.

emo songs aint a great song genre for a relationship seriously you're better off going for an acoustic song or a song with meaning, emo is no offence, crap, no other way to say it. sure, when "emo" first came into use it had meaning but now absolutely shit bands are using it to label their music. anyway HIM is a great band for like relationship songs and shit.
