Qwetry is the bulwark of this establishment, you'd have me to deal with if you get him barred, which is hilarious 'cos he's a mod and has the most posts out of us all.

YeaH I suppose it was.

Alternative is a bit of a paradox, because alt. bands like radiohead, nirvana (i suppose) etc. are really well-known and cited by many mainstream acts today. So there no longer the "alternative" are they?

Can anyone shed some light on this oxymoron for me!

nope, alternative music has moved on and become another marketing term for radio-friendly rock and roll music. so you are right sammo, alternative has seized to be! it is just pop rock.

I hate it when people say: " I listen to alternative music", and then they give examples like coldplay, nirvana,... That's not alternative anymore, those groups are sooo famous! I really don't know what to call alternative anymore, actually..

Try Athlete, it's "alternative", but I want to know what people think of them.

anyway, back on the convo of Athlete, a lot of people won't of heard of them, they only seem to get airplay on radio 1 but don't hold that against them.

Alternative is a the deathbead a bit ATM in britain. Richard Ashcroft's new single got 1 out of 10 on dotmusic (but they're crap anyway). Madchester and indie in general is being replaced by garage rock (vines, white stripes, datsuns etc.). It's a sad day ...
