Bass Guitar

I am going to be starting bass guitar soon, does anyone know what a good model for a beginner (who is 13)? Something that will get me in the right direction?

depends on how much cash you're willing to invest... for the most part any entry level bass is going to be about the same... they'll all be between $200-300 and offer similar sound... look and feel might be different though... i'd suggest trying a bunch out at a local music store first... and if you're gettting an amp make sure it's a bass amp... a regular guitar amp can be severely damaged by playing a bass through it...

Go to your local music store, see what they have, ask them, they'll know what to get you.

It all depends on the person and style of bass you would like to get. You should go to guitar center or a good music store and talk to someone who know what they are doing.

something else to keep in mind for your first bass... 4 strings and frets... don't get more than 4 strings until you reach the point where you need a 5th... and starting on a fretless bass is asking for a ridiculous amount of trouble...

my roommate started on a peavey fury too... still has it... still kicks ass... extra skinny neck... the only thing i didn't like about it is how light the body is compared to the neck... if you let go of the neck without holding the body it'll smash you in the knee...

make a couple trips, try a selection of bass guitars, after about four or five visets you may have a good idea of which bass you like the best. instruments sound differant from day to day =D i picked up my first bass today, and ive made about six visets in the past two weeks to play stuff, and this one is really really appealing to me. some sort of "cort", i dont know if its a good brand or not, all i know is that it sounds good to me, and thats all that matters.

if you have no idea about music like me about a year ago when i got my guitar, try getting something thats comfortable, easy to move around and fiddle with. i didnt know about tones or feedback or anything basic like that, so i figured i might as well get something that i like to look at, feel confortable playing, and not killing myself to play.
