I wouldn't really say that, as Joy Division's first recordings preceded Bauhaus's by like a few months...I seriously doubt there was time for any massive influence there...

aw cum on man, you know what i mean; THE goth anthem was written on unknown pleasures, its the art-fag-depressed hits collection. every kid in high school dug that one, and bauhaus was nobody before joy division introduced the style to a bigger audience. before bauhaus had any actual chart hits and anyone was really interested, like that song third uncle and what not, there had to be "love will tear us apart." like i said earlier, that should not dismiss their achievements tho.

I voted Joy Division, but i think Talking Heads needs a mention too, specially if you're going to talk about post-punk creators...

Well, if you want to get specific, Bauhaus' 1979 single "Bela Lugosi's Dead" is credited as the first Goth track...

They're one of my faves but I wouldn't exactly call them Goth though.....

I've been listening to both Bauhaus and Joy Division (as well as the Sisters of Mercy's First & Last & Always) and I must say I like them all (not the later SoM though), but JD is just a tad better... "She's In Parties", "She's Lost Control" and "Marian" being the favourites... Any other bands like this that I should check out?
