Soulseek vs Slsk

I recently became the victim of the sasser worm and some other virus (that no antivirus or antispyware software can find). One anti-virus program (I can't remember which one....I ran about 15 in the last 2 days) listed SLSK as one of the viruses. It had a "click for more info" option and it took me to their web site and said SLSK is a knockoff of SOULSEEK, but it's packed with spyware and adware and a trojan horse, whatever that is.

I can't remember which software (or wep page) this was.
My computer is f$%ked up, so I can't even check (I'm at work now).

Anybody have any info on whether this is true or not?
Anyone else going through this Shenanigans?

All I can say is that I've already heard about a hacked version of Soulseek, hosted by a spy society... Good luck with that shit bro!

It has hijacked my XP firewall. It's set to "off" and the option to turn it back on is greyed out (I know it was on before). Every time I try to do anything, explorer pops up and it tries to go to www(dot)analfreegayspace.(blahblah). Popups everywhere. No popup blocker is stopping them. I can click on one of my favorites and it overrides it and takes me to some bullshit search page. I can't fix this shit. I'm giving myself unti wednesday to find a cure or I'm formatting C.

Who does this shit? If it's people who hate Bill Gates, then they're only screwing it up for everyone else. I'll bet my left nut that Bill Gates is having no problems, and the cash is still rolling in.

AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! BASTARDS

There are two soulseek websites. The old one was hijacked.

This one is the correct one:
http://www.slsknet.org/

Spywares shouldn't be a real trouble, they're not meant to destroy your computer. They just try to gather informations about you, force you to visit websites or allow remote control of your machine. Just use a spyware removal prog (adaware, spybot...) and uninstall Soulseek first!

It won't let me uninstall it. The uninstall folder is there, but it says "file cannot be found" when I try to open it.....and it's only 1kb in size.

Just use a spyware remover and delete soulseek folder. Erase any cookies from soulseek.net too... I'm really convinced it's possible to get rid of spywares and get rid of all troubles at the same time. I remove loads of spywares from my hard drive every week and my computer works perfectly fine.

A spyware is NOT a virus.

It isn't meant to destroy your comp. Destroying your comp means that the spyware won't be able to run any longer : if a spyware destroys your computer, then the spyware is a stupid program made by a moron, because it's simply useless.

I deleted everything I could find that had to do with soulseek, including the music I got from there. No spyware remover can find this crap. I just tried some again.
I,m at work right now and my PC is in the admin area getting the C drive formatted. Next break I'll go out and install windows.

I'm mad as hell

Yes, slsk.net was brought by another company awhile back after slsk lost the rights to it, for about a week. This company grabbed it before the real slsk had the chance to buy it back again. As Alty said, the new site is: http:www.slsknet.org

Did you try using the revert option for XP....... revert the drive to pre-f%^&$d stage.....

I use GoBack for this... on my Win98 machine....

Find a program with spyware just revert to like new....I've never used the XP revert option but I know it is in there.... I've had to disable it on my moms computer to run a virus scan.....I believe it's in the control panel.
