so our local blues festival gets a lot of funding so they get all sorts of bands that aren't necessarily blues to perform... last sunday night (july 11) i got to stand outside the fence and watch
jaga jazzist play for an hour... for free
i would have totally paid the $25 for the day pass to see them at the end of the night but it was sold out... i still had a great view and the sound was excellent... they're an amazing live band... tightest 10 piecce i've ever seen... then again they're the only 10 piece i've ever seen
the only downside is that they went on last and my province has a noise pollution bylaw that prohibits outdoor shows from going past 11pm... they were supposed to start at 9:30 but didn't get going until a little after 10... i'm pretty sure it was their first time in north america and they seemed quite excited about it and the crowd really dug them too... at a few points there were as many people outside the fence as inside... i REALLY hope they come back (and i find out more than 3 days in advance hehe)
