The Fall vs. Wire
All right, this will be my first thread in the punk section...
In any case, I thought I'd see what thoughts there were concerning these two heavily underrated Punk pioneers...perhaps two of the most creative bands of the late '70s, really...so what do you think? Which was better? How do they compare to the "Big 3" of '70s punk? Let's have it!

Sorry dude, I have not head enough of either band to form an opinion. From what I have heard I like both bands but I am not sure which one I like better. I will need to check out each on a bit more.

My friend ,the escaped lunatic, insisted The Fall was a great band and I listened patiently and mostly agreed. Wire is one of my favorites of the era. In three albums they covered a LOT of ground. When they got back together, I think they proved that while breaking no new ground they still had vital and interesting musical ideas.
I think 154 stands as one of the real golly whackers of the seventies.

what i really like about wire is (a) they ROCK, much more often than the fall for better or worse, and (b) they got back together again and they still ROCK. the fall are great in their own way, but wire is just a beast across the board.

by 'big three' do you mean 'clash, pistols, damned' or 'television, ramones, talking heads'?

most likely 'dk, pistols, ramones'
im going to go with the both option. even though i like wire a lil more, the fall rocks as well. they both kick ass to their own rights, ive listened to both and i basically both like them both the with the same value if there is such a thing so im not going with either one, but both. and yes they were underrecognized pioneers or 70s punk but ah well, we know who they were/are and that they kick ass

I went with Wire, which is a little bit unfair, because I haven't heard that much from the Fall as of yet... Wire seems a little more accessible too... I've got only Pink Flag, though I'm trying to get Chairs Missing as well

I'll have to go with Wire, "Chairs Missing" is a great album of the post-punk era, and I'll try and forgive them for the abomination that was "Manscape".
The Fall were pretty good, but haven't reached the same heights, and seem to release absolutely anything they've recorded, good or bad.
