Joanna Newsom

Have any of you heard her music yet? She has an incredible voice, try to think of the first time you heard Bjork. She plays harp and has quite a folky sound, and already this year she has toured with Will Oldham and Cat Power with a bright future ahead of her. You can check out some of her tracks form http://www.walnutwhales.com and her album the milk-eyed mender is out now.

ps)you may be experiencing deja vu, as this thread was in alternative aswell, but ive been waiting for the mods to move it for over a week.

And she is from the SF area too!
Yeah its the only Album so far...she has two short records, (one being self released or something) but officially the milk eyed mender is THE album

There is song, 'the Fray' (I think it is called) from the Walnut Whales (short) album, that you may like to hear. I don't know why it wasn't included in the milk eyed mender, its so great! (but hey, p2p networks come to the rescue in this case)

Other songs that I've heard and that are not included in the album:
Flying a Kite
Yarn and Glue
Does anybody of you guys know other??

they're two american sisters, who both ended up in paris living together, seriously you should check it out, although sonically its very different to joaana newsom i think it has quite a similar spirit to it.

Them. ok.
Yeah dude thanks for the tip. I in fact did liked the song I heard. I hear it a little more 'electronic' approach (at least from the song I heard) and I'm still looking for other ones
But as you said it, there are similar even though I heard CocoRosie was a little more "different"

as far as i know they don't use any "real" electronic instruments, just random crap in their flat and stuff they've found around paris. i'm a bit of a daydreamer and the album completely tapped into that side of me.

btw have you ever heard of bittorrent? using it you can get whole album's much easier to get hold of than in programs like kazaa. of course, you'll only download it as an extra copy of the album you bought legally

aww I heard by your side and it sounds kinda electronic... but I only did it once a while ago so now I'm not sure
and I just realized that the song I thought was the best from Blonde Redhead is actually cocorosie's!! I downloaded music from blonde redhead in epitonic.com and I liked a song the most...now I got in the official cocorosie website to hear a sample of their work and its the very same song!! So i liked cocorosie without ever knowing of their existance!! and hey I'm gonna check that bittorent stuff...

did anyone saw joanna newsom on the jimmy kimmel show?? she was the best but the poor thing was so nervous, ha
