Ofra Freakin Haza

I was listen to an online radio station, Secret Agent http://205.188.245.130:8010, and Love Song came on. Her voice blew me away. It was like a freakin' epiphany.

Ofra Haza - Love Song

Amazing, isn't she? Haven't heard anything new for a while, though: is she still performing? Recording? Anyone know?

Oops: I've just read the phrase "... the late Ofra Haza". I suppose that answers that question.

Further research shows she died of AIDS-related complications in March 2000. I must have heard about it at the time but I'd forgotten.

Who is Ofra Haza? Is she that Arabian chick?? (yeah, with a name like that it sounds pretty geberal but it's a serious question.)

I thought she was from India, but I am not sure. we should check www.allmusic.com to get the info where she was from.

in 1992, she did some vocal for The Sisters of Mercy and the song is called Temple of Love(1992).

Sarah Brightman had an album called "Harem", and a lot of it was Arabian-inspired music. I know that somebody with a name like Ofra Haza featured on a song on that album called "Mysterious Days" and would it, perhaps, be the same woman??
