so why are you presenting your belief as fact? basically my statement entails that if you're going to be so bold as to proclaim blind melon's debut as 'the best of the entire 90s' then you'd better have something better than the politically correct 'it's my opinion so it can't be wrong' to back it up.
besides while some critics downplayed BM when they were around they didn't waste any time recanting on their words once Hoon ODed.

I had? Hmmmm. Why's that? I don't owe anyone an explanation for believing that to be "fact" in my own mind. If I were pushing it on someone else claiming that they were a fool not to agree, then and only then should I bother to "back it up." To me, it's the greatest album of the 90s because of two words: more passion.

it would promote discussion as opposed to yet another bunch of lists and hollow sunshine blown up asses like just about every other worthless music forum on the net. you know the kind. the ones where all people do is post arbitrary lists and everyone gets petted on the head for stating their opinion that can't be questionned and everyone dances around all the same sacred cows that have been discussed so many fucking times over it's not even funny anymore.

I hear ya, man. I never heard two guitars playing simultaneously with more feeling than Blind Melon(usually one clean and one distorted). Of course Radiohead has two guitarists but without the keyboard element they don't mean near as much. Blind Melon's self-titled debut grew on me one song at a time. It affected me in a way that no album ever has before. I went from really getting into, say, 5 songs on the album, to 6, to 7 etc. It grew on me over a longer period of time than any album I've ever listened to. In fact, I didn't really care for it the first coupla times I heard it. I guess what makes it really outstanding for me is the fact that it's brought me to tears of pain and joy in one listen before, depending on the song. If you get a chance, check out the two best songs they ever wrote and you might see what I'm getting at. Well, I dunno. You might havta hear them back to back more than once like I did before they really grab you. They are "Deserted" and "Sleepyhouse" and one flows right into the next one. Tracks 8 and 9 on the debut. I've experienced some of the best musical euphoria of my life listening to those two songs back to back. Check it out. Dig it. Peace.

Nice. I've never heard of this band but I'm checking them out on Yahoo Music Engine and they sound cool. Have you heard the bands Pole or Deadbeat?
Third Eye Foundation? Nick Harris?
So far this actually sounds a little better than most of the ambient stuff I'm into because I like the use of traditional instruments. Excellent suggestion. Thank you.

it's all good man. i've got the debut, had it for years. i don't mind dusting it off every now and again but it just doesn't have the same personal pull it seems to have with you. then again i wouldn't expect most people to feel the same way i do about the red hot chili pepper's 'freaky styley' album (speaking of euphoric musical awakenings). as for two guitar bands i think the more recent queens of the stone age stuff has some good dual action happening.

I'm gonna say 10 YEARS again, in the hopes that someone will actually go and listen to it! Just go to their website and listen to Wastelands through the site. You're all gonna be thanking me...

I don't see how the Red Hot Chili Peppers can be underrated...they're known pretty well in just about every country which speaks English.
Underrated bands: Rocket Science, Spiderbait, The Boat People, The Stoneage Hearts, The Cops...
