Is there a song you need help with? I have studied his style and I am not the greatest guitarist, but I know his style pretty well. It is really mostly in the fingers as you said. With Gilmour, it's all in the bending and vibrato. He doesn't let a note die without bending it both directions and generally milking the hell out of it. I know most of his best guitar pieces, and I will gladly offer any advice I could. Let me know.

His style is pretty simple.

Which songs do you need tab for? I got a couple of tab books with most of his stuff. I can scan it and send it off to you. PM your email address if you like. Yeah, I'd be interested in some bootlegs.

I didn't mean to imply that he bended in opposite directions, I was just exaggerating the fact that he does a crapload of bends. Time, for instance. On the solo he'll bend a note up a 1.5, come down a full note and back up 1/2 a note. Just crazy usage of the strings. As well, Shine On, I had to dig up an old interview of his to finally figure out how he was applying vibrato to get that special sound in the beginning of the song.

I don't think there is a thing I could tell you though if you have been playing his stuff for well over two decades. Maybe I ought to be asking you some questions. Anyhow, it's great to see another student of his style around these boards.

Sorry, got caught up in another thread for a while. Man, these questions are just a little out of my expertise. I usually have some Gilmour settings on my POD and they do nicely. But I have a couple places that might have your answers.

Here's an interview with his guitar tech Phil Taylor (very bottom of page). I believe they mentioned he controls his effects with a Bob Bradshaw:

This site covers just about all his effects, with pictures:

3Do you hear any unisons in the solo of the Wall?, once more my new sound guy on me

Were you referring to 'Comfortably Numb' solo, or another song?

4Do you know if he now sues Russian or USA PIE?

Forgive the ignorance, but what is a PIE?

5Do you think a mojovibe sounds like the orginal vox uni vibe? All the cats I know rave about em.

Actually I haven't used either. Most of my effects and tones are through my POD. But I am going to have to check these out now that you got my interest peaked.

7 What neck positon does he start Shine on in?

I am assuming the one closest to middle, though I probably can take a look at my Pink Floyd DVD tonight and confirm it. I play it through my LP and through the middle, since I have only a 3-way switch.

8Any good examples of Gil in the 2 or 4 pick up spot on record you can point me too?

I'll see what he is doing on the PF DVD tonight and update it if I find any 2's or 4's

Cheers,
NDF
