Cressida

Asylum (71), Cressida's second and last release.

Hi! I'm new to the forums and one of the first things I did was a search for the lovely british prog band Cressida. But Alas!, there were no matches and I could not understand how everyone could have missed out on them (or at least discussing 'em).

It's one of my absolute favorite rock groups and I feel they deserve at least one thread.

They're basically a british progressive rock band with their sound based around the mellotron, with very melodic compositions. I dunno, I'm terrible at describing what bands sound like, I like to let the music speak. Heh.

Anyway, I prefer their second record - Asylum. It's fantastic and I'd recommend each and everyone of you to hunt it down to have a listen. The last song on the album, Let Them Come When They Will, being particulary awesome.

They sound interesting (I love the mellortron)... Who would you compare their sound to?

I'm not entirely sure, actually. I found this site that places them on the same scene as bands like Spring, Fantasy, Gracious! and Beggar's Opera. I haven't heard any of those, though, so I can't really tell. You should really try to get some of their material and see for yourself.

The link, if you're interested. Includes two short reviews of their releases.

Man there are so many good bands that released only one or two albums. Anyway they sound good, I'm gonna give them a try, thanks for the recommendation.
