Abelton Live 4 - Wow...

http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=news

Live + midi...

Wow, this could kill Reason/Fruityloops/Acid forever... and be essential to anyone who doesn't need Logic/Cubase etc.

It looks like a nice quick and easy update. I read this however, "Live's built-in Simpler instrument revives the art of sampling" and laughed because.. no one uses samplers do they :P

However while I use logic to compose I use Ableton Live for gigs and it IS perfect for that, but I only have V2.03

I've got Live 3, but it says any Live user can upgrade for the same amount, which is good.

It is a fantastic program, and a great company to boot. It'll remain to be seen though how much computer power is needed to run heaps of midi and audio effects, while still stretching everything as well as it does now, plus run something like Battery in real-time ('cause the 'simpler' will be shit, I feel). It looks like the Arrangement viewer is much bigger and better too, it was the thing that kept me from staying exclusively in Live.

We'll see what happens I guess...

I just don't feel it has the balls to be a full sequencing package, but then I am used to logic

Nothing is quite as meaty as logic.
