my favourite song for lyric is like suicide by soundgarden, then probably limo wreck.
and some beatles songs like 'something' 'while my guitar gently weeps', 'i am the walurs'(lol),
some radiohead songs: 'exit music(for a film), creep, paranoid android, lucky, the tourist

well...I'd go with any song by the doors, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and Jef Buckley. They aren't all rock, but they are the best for me.

I'm a die hard R.E.M. fan so for me Michael Stipe is excellent. However, when it comes to best I'd go with any song off of DSTOM by Pink Floyd.

i'd say nin - hurt... but i'm afraid someone would kill me. i think i'd kill me. i'ts become sort of an anthem for the semi-suicidal depressed, which is sad because it's such a good song.
so, instead, i'm going to go with nin - where is everybody? i'm sure there are better, but i'm too lazy to think.
did you happen to catch
or did it happen so fast
what you thought would always last
has passed you by
is everything speeding up
or am i slowing down
just spinning around
and i don't know why
all the pieces don't fit
thought i really didn't give a shit
i never wanted to be like you
but for all i aspire
i am really a liar
and i'm running out of things i can do
i'd like to stay
but every day
everything puches me further away
if youi could show
help me to konw
how it's supposed to be
where did it go?
pleading and
needing and
bleeding and
breeding and
feeding
exceeding
where is everybody?
trying and
lying
defying
denying
crying and
dying
where is everybody?
well okay, enough,
you've had your fun
but come on there has got to be someone
that hasn't yet become
so numb
and succumb
and
god damn i am so tired of pretending
of wishing i was ending
when all i'm really doing is trying to hide
and keep it inside
and fill it with lies
open my eyes?
maybe i wish i could try
you know what, that song's not all that great... sorry. maybe i'll think of a better one later.

Time by pink floyd has the greatest line ive ever heard in a song.
"ticking away the moments that make up a dull day, fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way"

Here are the lyrics to a Linkin Park song. (this is just for comical relief)
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you
Can't you see that you're smothering me
Holding too tightly afraid to lose control
Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
And every second I waste is more than I can take
[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you
And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me with someone disappointed in you
[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you
[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've tired of being what you want me to be
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've tired of being what you want me to be
