Question Greatest Prog-Rock Vocalist (( 1970-1980 ))

This poll is reflective of progressive rock vocalists who came to prominance during the 1970s only...no neo-prog to be discussed here, please...

...also, I realize this isn't "all-inclusive", which is why there is an option for "other", feel free to use it! I was trying to keep this poll under 50 options...

I voted for Jon Anderson (John Anderson is a well-known country singer who couldn't sing prog if he wanted to). Not only do I consider him the greatest prog vocalist, but one of the all time great vocalists, regardless of genre. This is especially true when one considers how strong his voice still remains in 2004. I know of no other singer in all of rock who has been singing since the 60s and still sounds every bit as good now as then if not even better. But Jon Anderson does.

Tough choice for me... I really like Greg Lake's "smooth" voice... But Jon Anderson's is so unique and interesting, I had to vote for him... I know of several people (including my wife) who doesn't like Yes just because of Anderson's "highish" voice... But I don't think it's as pronounced as say a Geddy Lee... Anywho, I like Anderson's voice a lot...

Sorry for the mis-spelling Rev, and I agree, Anderson was a great one...

OK, I voted for Ian Anderson, mostly for sentimental reasons. I'm with Syd's wife on Jon Anderson's voice, although I have to say I like Geddy Lee a lot - there must be other qualities at play beyond pitch. I was tempted to vote for Peter Gabriel, and if heart hadn't ruled head then I would have done: early Genesis was the essence of prog rock, but without Gabriel they were nothing.

I actually think "Trick of The Tail" is a great album... In general though, I agree that the Gabriel led Genesis is far superior to the Collins led Genesis...

I knew you would vote for Anderson Rev. your the biggest Yes freak ive ever come across. I voted for him also, hes a great prgo vocalist and probably one of if not the best.

I was going to vote for Geddy Lee, but me and Seba have already had the conversation on why Rush isnt a prog rock group. But they are still awesome.

I voted for Wyatt. He is not the best, but he has performed some interesting ideas with his vocals.
