Replace the ramones with another band
okok get this, i read somewhere that the ramones' role in the film 'rock n roll high school' was originally going to be given to cheap trick, only they changed it to the ramones like everyone knows. but i gota wonder, what other bands would have been good instead of the ramones? what other movies could have had an interesting band swap?

I heard both Todd Rundgren and Sparks were approached.
Frankly, I can't imagine the movie without them.
they are the perfect "Mad Magazine" idea of a rock and roll band.

British oi isn't really the thing to replace american punk, theyre two completely different things. Also, Ramones are more dare I say pop-punkish if you look at the style of music, they still kick ass but I would say the ONE band that could replace the Ramones the best were their debut partners (speaking of CBGBs here) Television.

don't forget "british oi" started the yank punks off. explain how they are different things. the ramones had personal connections (took drugs with them) with the sex pistols so try to explain how they would be completely different things? and you dare mention the Ramones in the same breath as pop-punk? i see no similarities between the ramones and that glorified bullshit i may have tunnel vision when it comes to this subject but c'mon.... pop punk? sex pistols and the ramones are from the same vein of hell raisers. the end.
