Why don't we just do Motorhead vs. Sum 41 while we're at it?

Why ??? what is wrong with comparing the biggest metal band of the 70's/80's with the biggest metal band of the 80's/90's.
I know that sabbath and metallica play very different styles of music, but you could vote for which band you think has been a better ambassitor to metal. They are similar in many ways really both band started off awesome then turned quite poor. Both were pinoeering bands in their respective styles. Motorhead vs sum 41 that is just fucking stupid.

Sorry Tanjello, just seems like heresy to compare them. LOL!

Thats cool, I am just bored and I am trying to get a bit of discussion going. I don't think it is that much heresy. I voted BS, however I think that metallica are not that far behind them if you compare what they did in the 80's. I enjoy listening to lightning and puppets just as much as I enjoy listening to paraniod or masters of reality. Now in the last 14 years metallica have lost the plot, but BS didn't do all that much great stuff after about born again.
I think you will be surprised. I do think that BS will win the poll but I think it will be quite close, I guess we can just wait and see.

As a band, I think Metallica was better, but i'd say Black Sabbath was a tad more influential.

Man I love both of these bands, but metallica was definitely my gateway into rock, so i'll vote them --but black sabbath will always be great whereas metallica seems to be heading south, but many bands do so no shame in that.
And yeah motorhead vocals do try the nerves.

I'm not a huge fan of either band, but if I had to spend eternity listening to one or the other, I'd choose Sabbath...reluctantly...
