Immortal Technique

Anyone heard of this rapper?
He is not mainstream so i doubt some of you would have heard of him, but he has a song which is a great rhyme and has a great twist at the end. I suggest you get it and read the lyrics along with the song:
Artist: Immortal Technique Song: Dance With The Devil.

i used to be a fan of immortal technique, industrial revolution is a dope song, and the rest of the album is pretty solid, but i grew tired of his anger and he sounds a lot like nas. his similes that he calls metaphors are pretty good though

I have let various people listen to immortal and observed a very similar reaction to his lyrical creations. I have found that people do not give immortal enough credit for his style and seemingly endless knowledge of this world. His beats and voice are rendered insignificant to the overall song as a result of the his unmatched style of voicing his thoughts. Anger is his angle on many of his songs but if you have listened to both cds in their entirity one can see the source of such words. When it comes to the range of topics, he can't be touched by any other rapper dead or alive. His knowledge is amazingly extensive and most people merely do not understand as a result. They focus on the beats and try and follow his words but get lost in the his lyrical genius. Immortal is realistic and expresses the same theories and beliefs that I too have grown to hold true. This, perhaps, is why I get the chills each time I hear him speak. Any rapper, if confronted by immortal in a battle, would be destroyed because most rappers talk about the same topics but use variations of words and beats to make each song distinctive. I agree that technique's lyrics at times are disturbing to say the least but i am drawn to the way in which he weaves his songs together. His words are metaphors if u listen closely and know what a metaphor actually is. Similies do make up a lot of his songs but claiming he doesnt use metaphors is proof of lack of understanding. I believe technique and his songs are just too smart for most people and therefore are underappreciated. The truth he spits is too much for some and refusing to believe what he says is valid could also be an issue. He is a modern day storyteller as well as a spokesman of truth. I will never get tired of his one of a kind style and infinite intelligence he brings to each song.

Immortal Technique is one of undergrounds finest. I put him up there with slug and aesop. I just got revolutionary vol 2 and its one of the best albums I have ever heard. Yea its to bad more people dont listen to him, cuz hes better then 99% of mainstream rappers.

i'm actually fairly proficient with the english language and can tell the difference between a simile and a metaphor. anyways, sure he's all political and stuff and that may make him seem like a "smart" rapper but a majority of what he speaks is ripping on the government and it gets a little old. also he never varies his delivery so most of the songs are indistiguishable from one another aside from the beats and lyrical content. that is why i said i used to like immortal technique until i got bored of him. if he developed a new flow, maybe mix up the rhymning structure a little bit i would probably continue to listen to him. that is my opinion.

He does rap about current affairs, politics, and the government a lot. But thats what he is thats his style. Its just him, Its real shit thats going on, and not about girls, thugs, and ice. Its nice to see a rapper who usees his talent to express his outlook on life and the world itself.

I would just like to reply to the comment on Immortal Tech's political stance getting old. The whole reason he and other revolutionaries keep stating what seems like the same thing over and over again is because the majority of the world is so apathetic that they don't care. A person like Immortal Tech isn't taking the political angle to sell albums theyre speaking about issues that they hop will make people realise the the world needs to be changed. So yes the topics may be getting old but thats because even though so many people have spoken out about it and people protest, the vast majority of people are still ignorant to the facts and so nothing changes. We need more MC's like Tech to spread the truth, even if the political stance is "getting old"

this page is what made me subscribe to this forum in the first place. immortal technique, i just had to say, is beyond way too many peoples mind sets. When more people start becoming educated, aware and concerned about what is going on around them they'll realize this too.

Ya know, you might want to just accept other people's opinions instead of just claiming that anyone who doesn't like Immortal Technique is too stupid to understand his lyrics. Yes, he's a good lyricist but there's more to rap then being a good lyricists. Flow and beats are essential to any good rap song, and to just brush them off and say it's all about the lyrics is ignoring a big part of the music. Having the words fit nicely to a good beat is what seperates rap music from just plain poetry, and I.T.'s flow is boring.

He has some great songs and his albums are both nice, but his subject matter is way too repetitive. He talks about the same shit in almost every song. And I happen to disagree with some of the shit he says, I don't believe in the illuminati or any of that shit. Does that make me uneducated? No, my common sense tells me it's a load of shit, I have read up on that stuff and seen documentaries and I'm just not buying it. When Immortal Technique or anyone else who preaches about New World Order conpiracies shows me at least some circumstantial evidence, then maybe I'll take that shit serious. Till then, Immortal is just another rapper I listen to occasionally who has some good songs, nothing more nothing less.

With that said, I love the song Peruvian Cocaine.
