The guy is 22 years old and sings vocal jazz or something like it...
I won his cd, the UK version ofTwentysomething
I actually quite like it... It's accessible, though not as much to the pop audience orientated as Norah Jones, though the kid really looks like he's the new Justin Timberlake or something like that... well maybe not Timberlake, but not like you'd think if you would hear his rather low jazzy voice...
Some critics say that he imitates big shots like Sinatra too much and well they may be right, if I were Cullum, I wouldn't have included "Singing In The Rain" anyway... Though I like his version of "Old Devil Moon" (well it's the first one I heard
, but I read that Chet Baker has done it as well...)He has recorded jazzy versions of Hendrix' "Wind Cries Mary" and Jeff Buckley's "Lover, You Should Have Come Over" and both are good... on the US version there's also an adaptation of Radiohead's "High and Dry"...
Overall a nice record, nothing special, but an enjoyable listening experience anyway... except if you're a jazz-purist of course
