Jamie Cullum

Any of you heard about this new Brit?
The guy is 22 years old and sings vocal jazz or something like it...
I won his cd, the UK version ofTwentysomething
I actually quite like it... It's accessible, though not as much to the pop audience orientated as Norah Jones, though the kid really looks like he's the new Justin Timberlake or something like that... well maybe not Timberlake, but not like you'd think if you would hear his rather low jazzy voice...

Some critics say that he imitates big shots like Sinatra too much and well they may be right, if I were Cullum, I wouldn't have included "Singing In The Rain" anyway... Though I like his version of "Old Devil Moon" (well it's the first one I heard , but I read that Chet Baker has done it as well...)

He has recorded jazzy versions of Hendrix' "Wind Cries Mary" and Jeff Buckley's "Lover, You Should Have Come Over" and both are good... on the US version there's also an adaptation of Radiohead's "High and Dry"...

Overall a nice record, nothing special, but an enjoyable listening experience anyway... except if you're a jazz-purist of course

I've heard one song of him, and I liked it, but I need to hear more, before I can say something. What I do know is, that the song I heard wasn't really jazz...but he can play the piano very well.

Wow...just saw this kid on Letterman...very good. I'm gonna buy the CD. Piano style and chord choices are similar to Bruce Hornsby. Very jazzy and off-beat, but tuneful.

Well...I saw him first time in Conie O' performing Twentysomething. I think that the song is quite good. I have also heard a few other songs from him and liked them too. I think i will try to download his album from somewhere asap.

In the end, what we have are these little, great moments. They come and they go. That's as good as it gets. But, still, isn't that great?

As long as it's good I don't care who writes it.

indeed, he covers some jazz tunes, some rock songs (Hendrix' "The Wind Cries Mary", Jeff Buckley's "Lover, You Should Have Come Over" and on the American version of Twentysomething also Radiohead's "High and Dry"), but he writes songs himself too... the song "Twentysomething" is one of his own for example...
