Killing Joke, Godflesh, Prong
Anybody into these bands? I love all three....esp KILLING JOKE. Curious about the others here.

From what I've read they are some type of dance metal? What songs should I try to get into each?

Good bands. I don't think I can say that I love any of them though.

No, definitely not dance metal.
All three bands have a somewhat mechanical songwriting style, and don't follow a lot of traditional chord changes. GODFLESH "Streetcleaner" is one of the heaviest albums ever. Check out "Christbait Rising"...abrasive and heavy.
KILLING JOKE has never put out an album that I didn't like. If you like lots of dynamics and unbelievably tight rhythms and songs that just build and build to epic proportions, check out some of their stuff. I'd start with the latest one from last year (self-titled) w/ Grohl on drums, or "Pandemonium" is a good one to start with too.
PRONG - just always liked them because they brought that industrial edge to the traditional SOD-style crunch without losing any momentum. The old MTV Headbangers' Ball theme in the 80s/90s was them for Chrissake!
Hey DM -- I sent you an email....did you ever get it?

Email? Nope, don't think so. When did you send it? I might have misstooken it for spam. I get about 60 spam mails a day, I usually delete anyhting from an unrecongnized address and no, or irrevant subject lines, without a second thought.

Killing Joke are true legends in my opinion, one of the best bands to come out of the early '80s. I've seen 'em live four times, and each time, they've given a killer show. They've been pretty patchy recently, and their last album pretty much sucked, but I still love 'em. "What's THIS For?" and "Revelations" are two of my all-time favourite albums.
Dance metal though? Nah, nowt to do with metal, KJ are post-punk.
As for Prong, I've only got their cover of Chrome's classic "Third from the Sun", I've not heard anything else that sounds as good.
Godflesh were pretty good for a while, but not the sort of thing I'd dig out and listen to on a regular occasion.

I really like killing joke, i think my fave album of theirs would be their self titled. Darkness fish I liked their latest album, I think it is a really intense album, the heaviest they have put out, and I also really like Grohls drumming.
People who are not familer with killing joke may have heard the cover that metallica did of their song "the wait". I think metallica did a good job of covering the song, but the original is the best.

The self-titled? No way! Heavy as hell!
the first couple are classics, I will agree with you on that one. "What's This For?" is great ,too.
DM - emailed you again.

Looks like I'm being outvoted on KJ's last album, but to me, it was just
"Seeing Red" is the best song they've done for years, but the rest of the album sounded contrived and tired. I get the feeling that they make an occasional Killing Joke album for a bit of cash, and would much rather be doing something else. I'm sure Jaz is much more into his classical career these days.
Btw, I hate Dave Grohl, so that might have something to do with it. Foo Fighters were the second worst band I've ever seen live, after Oasis.

DF...I know what you mean. I can't stand Grohl's songwriting and the FOO FIGHTERS are the indie rock equivalent of the BAY CITY ROLLERS in my opinion, but...
His inclusion on projects like the PROBOT, KILLING JOKE, and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE made me realize that he is a fantastic drummer. Plus, he knows a ton about old-school metal. So I limit my hatred for him towards his songwriting only.
