Cd burner
I have been having really anoying problems with burning CDs lately. I recently bought an expensive package of 100 blank Sony CD-Rs and I'm finding that they only seem to burn correctly 1 in 10 times, the other nine times it says "Unknown error with your blank CD" then it just goes back to the step before you start the burn. This is using Windows Media player as a burning program although I tried using another program too and that just screwed up even more. Any suggestions?

Im doing mp3s, but it automatically converts as far as I can tell. I'm just burning though not recording or anything.

WMP isnt the greatest do you have Jewl CD Creator installed on your system or any other program alike? Im guessing though the songs you have downloaded are copyrighted. what are you using? WinMX, Kazaa, SoulSeek...etc?

Media player turns them all into wma i think, before it actually burns the cd, maybe you don't have the proper codecs? Try doing a media player upgrade from the microsoft web site.

I use Roxio easy cd creator and it works just fine. Theres no automatic converting thing but I grabbed a copy of mmwave2k off the net and that works well to convert to wav files.
So thats where those annoying wma files come from, they've been multiplying on soulseek in the recent past it seems.

don't get me wrong, wma is an excellent format to my knowledge, mp3 is supposed to be lossy so i'm not quite sure for wma, but it is far more efficient in size than mp3, so it is ideal to have a wma cd to play in a car or cd player because more songs will fit and is still good quality. I've seen wma with cd quality bitrate smaller in file size than an mp3 that is 128.
wmv, which is a video compression thing, is also much much better than mpg and all that as far as size goes, it's true that with divx and mpeg-4 you get great quality, but if it's compression with decent quality you seek then your wmv's are the way to go.

I've never heard of an ogg cd, so I don't need it.
