To me, the best is ogg, then is mp3 pro, then is wma, then is mp3.

I only use standards mp3 because of their perfect compatibility.

So what do you rate as pretty good? Like say 1 MB per 30 seconds? Wave files songs are usually about 30 mb and arn't supposed to be lossy but I think a 10 MB 4 minute song is pretty good.

The trick of the mp3 compression is very efficient, it's almost impossible to hear the compression (unless you play at a high volume or have excellent speakers or try to modify the sound in any way). A 192kbs mp3 is nearly perfect.
(a 100kbs ogg too! )

I will almost always have at least 192kbs since I like to play music loud in my car system, and if there are any imperfections and crackles, they are more than noticable.

Ogg (by Vorbis) is a new form of compressed audio file. But this is one of the best ever. Almost half the size of a mp3, tag included, and moreover it's free (a few people know it but you're supposed to pay everytime you create a mp3, no matter what you record ).

It's compatible with most of the sound editors and players (Sound Forge, Winamp, Media Player...). I didn't find a decent decoder for Nero burning Rom, that's mainly why I stopped using Ogg Vorbis files.

definantly get itunes, microsoft sucks ass. are you sure you're not copying them as mp3s onto the discs? you wont be able to play them if you're doing it like that unless a computer or mp3 cd player is reading it.

also, just get a new burner, theyre mad cheap. (that is if this one is giving you issues/is old)
