Yeah, they are probably borderline in terms of being known.. Probably more on the unknown side...

Love were what I'd call a "critic's darling" band...highly respected by "in the know" music people, but not a "well known" band by any stretch...
But back to the subject: Strawberry Fields Forever!!!!!!!!
As far as I'm concerned, it is THE psychedelic song. All the others either led up to or followed it.

How do you sleep at night thinking that Strawberry Fields is better than Walrus? =P

The Rev knows that I agree with General Electric (to a degree)... I think "Strawberry Fields" was part of Lennon's progression to the ultimate masterpiece of "Walrus"... But, I don't want to sell "Strawberry Fields" short... It is a true masterpice of music... I just think "I Am The Walrus" is a bit better... But both are great examples of rock music as masterpiece level art in my opinion...

I realize that "Strawberry Fields" and "Walrus" are very close in level of genius. And I'll confess that I love "Strawberry Fields" for subjectively sentimental reasons as much as for objective musical ones. But that makes it even more appropriate that I should name it as my favorite, I guess.

Hurdy Gurdy Man by Donovan is probably my favorite.

I particularly like Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles.
