Nah, I'd recomend against that sorry mate.... all ACiD is about is rearranging other peoples samples (with no modifications made) to make up a track. No real musical knowledge required. Fruity Loops is a step up (though, it's still not a *serious* piece of software) because of it's ability to generate noises from scratch, completely transform existing samples etc.

Each to his own then, ACiD obviously meets your needs. I take it you use ACiD express then? (as opposed to the un-free version)

ACID Xpress sucks hairy ass. I recently downloaded it just to see how it works. and it really pisses me off how little control I actually have over sequencing and other stuff. I gave up after a few days trying it out.

seriously, there is probably 2 freewares that are actually good, Protool Free and Super collider.

but looking at zyberdaddy's situation, Ableton live should be a good software to look into.

I'm starting to really njoy Ableton Live for gigs, but I'd never use it for making actual tracks.

Just a thought...is it possible that you're using a trial or non-full version of your software? That might limit what you can do and make it seem like you're only getting samples.
