oh well there is plenty to research my friend. you are very right about how the music affects us in different ways, but there are times where we truly appreciate the music once we delve into its core. i mean we can research the way the music builds and decays, or the meters that shift and evolve over time. there are plenty melodic and harmonic changes to be recognized as well. the limits are endless with IDM, and this too has changed my life. i thank Thom Yorke for mentioning Autechre in an interview that i read last year. otherwise, i might not have ever discovered this intricate world of music.

Yes, I understand. I've been researching artists and styles of music for over 10 yrs now and I read the same article, and was surprised that he listed them as an influence. Do we even consider Autechre as IDM, or rather experimental?

good point. perhaps they have created a class for themselves. i guess you could say they grew into experimentalism.

IDM will always be around. It's like a fungus growing in the dark.

I think it was always be around, but just in a limited fashion.

..and morphing into something else which it has since its initial inception.
