Hi Psyc Syd, Yes we did play with several groups of the era. I think we opend for Country Joe and the Fish one time. Mostly in our area, Ventura County. We were 1 of several bands.

I was really taken back a couple of months back when I found our band listed in the Fuzz Acid book on the Internet. Not one of us had heard the music in over 30 years. My kids now are getting to hear the music for the first time.

I have 2 Sons doing band stuff in there own way in Sacramento. I can still play, just havent in about 10 years, maybe it time to get back with it.

Thanks.... I have lots to say, if you all can be patient with me. I dont have easy access to a computer right now so in time Ill try to respond to all your questions. Music was my life back then. We as a group worked very hard to create our music. I think we all had different driving forces. It was both a magical time and a crazy time in our lives. We all came from good ole American families that had problems but just wouldnt admit it. I know I wanted my own idenity. The music became our main focus and escape from the pain we had but didnt see. Peace...

It seemed the LA area was a hotbed of bands...everywhere. I do have fond memories of going to the Hulabaloo Club (SP) and seeing the Palace Guard. They were very good. Also Kasy Kasem from KRLA in LA would bring name bands out to Thousand Oaks were we all lived. I used to study the drummers.

Hi All,

Just a note. It seems as though Children of The Mushroom might be playing at an upcoming Thousand Oaks band reunion August 21, 2005.

Some of use have gray in our hair, but the music is still there....

Hi Dennis--

Nice to have you on the forum. I've got two COTM songs on a Human Expression cd. Very good tunes! Are there any COTM songs that were unreleased?

Glad you enjoyed the music! Yes, several original songs. Last year, Al our base player, sent me a CD copy of a stereo reel to reel recording we made at a practice. One of our producers last year indicated he regretted not taking us back into the studio. We are going to play one (The Mushroom Theme) at the upcoming gathering in Thousand Oaks, Ca. on Aug. 21. I timed it the other day 5 min of pure psyc.

That's cool! Any chance the songs might get issued on cd? I'd love to hear them.
