No Sandinista and no Black Market Clash either? There's also the live album, I mean if you are going to include Cut the Crap you really should have the others too.

I'm going to vote for "Give Em Enough Rope" but it is a very hard decision to make. If I was asked at a different time I might pick the S/T or London Calling or even Black Market Clash.

yeah seriously, whoever set this up, nobody likes fucking combat rock or cut the crap, both are far from being their best. if you really had to include more than just two albums on your list, you shoule have made them sandanista and give em enough rope. the others are all kinda unimportant for a fav list.

o yeah, and i of course voted for london calling, and while its not as ummm... cool as their selfitle, musically its alot better.

Finally found this thread again! After years of loving the clash, I found an answer. I have to go with Celtopunk here. It's "Give 'em enough rope"
Although I would have opened the album with English Civil War. That's such an awesome song.

Tommy Gun has some killer ( ) lyrics.
"I see all the innocents, the human sacrifice
And if death comes so cheap, the same goes for life."

But I guess that goes for almost any clash song.

Julie's in the drugsquad, I really love the singing here. Also the happy poptune-ish sound in combination with the lyrics. The piano is also great in this song.

Stay Free. If a punkband should have a 'mellow' song, it's this one.

In my opinion 78 was their top year. The music sounds really good. You notice that on the B-side tracks on the singles. Pressure drop, Groovy Times,..

This thread makes me miss Working Class Hero. He was a guy who could start 'conversation' here in the punk section. Wonder what became of him.
