What version of Cool Edit are you using? I cant remember ever experiencing anything like that...

... do you mean, you want to save only what you've highlighted? Just copy your selection, make a new .wav file, and paste it in their, making sure the sampling rates for each file is the same.

I have version 2.0 pro

I think I may have found the problem though. could it be that I am saving the selection as an mp3 and it is adding the tags to that? I dont know but don't mp3's automaticly add the tags. Is it part of the Checksum coding? Perhaps if I saved the selection only as a wav it will solve the problem.

It shouldnt do... but I dont recomend saving to mp3- it's too lossy. Check the preferences in Cool Edit, make sure nothing's being ACiDized... that's the only reason I can think of...

Well it saved fine as a wav but I need the audio compression, is there a setting when saving it as an mp3 that ads the tags?

adding the tag is simple as hell! just play the file in winamp, then right-click and chose "tag ID3"...
