i think that the simple nature of music has been forgotten. as many have stated here, usually it's helpful to have less equipment and to rely on your creativity. this is very true, and if we look at how MHTRC has had such an impact on music, we can find that simplicity isn't always what it seems. in my opinion, deceptively presenting a musical idea or structure is what is needed.

my equipment.
microKORG, spoons, glass, monkeys, fake plastic trees and filters galore all produced on Acid 4/Soundforge.
has anyone tried the "Abox?" that thing is nasty! it reminds me of this class i was introduced to in France. the famous French experimentalist, Boulez, has a dedicated program at the conservatory there that offers such programs that discuss Abox's way of synthesis.
basically, you create an object and then manipulate it in space. everything from the ground up is constructed. i cannot begin to think of learning such a program. it almost reminds me of those vector problems in Physics.
anyhow be thankful for simple programs such as Sonic Foundry's products!
note: apparantley o9 uses the "Abox" program as shown on his web-site.
