I don't know about all the other ones. But the music scene where I live generally sucks. I don't mean just regular sucking here folks, it REALLY sucks. If I can get a local bands cd and post a song here I will. You will cry at the sound of it.

There's something in my front pocket

New York totally, the whole garage-punk revival there is hot!

The Aussie music scene is hard to beat... federal funded ventures like JJJ keep breathing new life into the music scene not just at the national level, but at your 'garage band' level too, through competitions like Unearthed, which find said garage bands and throw them out in the open. In a more specific region though, I'd say Perth (of Western Australia) has a musically diverse scene, which is also talented at the same time.

Let's also not forget the "classic" scenes: Canterbury, England all the way.

Too many to mention man... Downsyde, Tantrum, Mr Sandman, Syllaboliks, Karnivool... the list goes on. Just take a look at perthbands.com and you get an idea.

i must agree with this statement...being from the midwest n all, i personally think minneapolis has an excellent underground hip hop scene, an alright electronica scene not as good as san fran-or california, or even europe, decent punk scene and so on...

Damn. I'd kill for a scene more than "cheap beer at the sports center and getting drunk in a farmer's field". Norwich would probably be the best scene for proper music close to me.

New Orleans is a great place for funk, jazz, and blues scene... and a lot of big name artists/bands play here often... spend a lot of money, but it's definitly worth it
