technically they're right... nickleback IS a watered down mainstream version of late era soundgarden... both bands use just as many hooks and rhythmic changes in their songs... only difference is that SG wasn't nearly as clichéd and lyrically superior... but i'm sure someone who only listened to the last few SG singles (black hole sun / fell on black days / blow up the outside world) would have no problem listening to creed or nickelback...

Nickleback is far too-over played. I used to enjoy their songs the first 100 times I heard them in a single week but after that...
I do think that they are a less talented version of soundgarden. The band ripoffs need to stop (i.e. Puddle of Mudd/Nirvana_ sorry p.o.m. fans but it's true...)

quite possible... but it's also possible to mess with their database since it is dynamically updated based on the search criteria... if you list 2 bands you like and a crap band the engine will assume a link between all 3 bands regardless of intention... if enough people link the crap with the 1 of the other 2 it's quite possible to have them come up as recommendations...
