did you hear the Adverts release yet by Somatic Responses? i know you're not particularly fond of S.R., but i am curious if you've heard their new one.

It is a decent cd, but I just can't really get into it, it actually bores me a bit. I'll probably give it another chance though.

yes, I have the 2 cd set and I actually find it more enjoyable than the majority of their other material. Kind of takes a step back to their first works and intertwines them with the last one on ad noiseam...

I haven't heard it myself because I have the domestic version released by Nothing as well. I've heard it's not really that great though, sort of a waste, but it is a genuine idea.

just wanted to say that i spoke to this guy over at my local record store for at least a half an hour about electronic music. it was so refreshing to be able to do something like that in person. anyhow, on to my semi-question-esque posting.

just thought i'd let you know i picked up the Chris Cunningham and NinjaTune ZEN TV recordings DVDs. you're thoughts on these works?

i also picked up the compilation album--Electric Ladyland on MillePlateaux. great price too!

and just how ambient is Aphex's Selected Ambient works 2 cd compilation? i hear it's almost non-existant. i know i should know James' material more fluently, but i just haven't gotten around to it.

how ambient is it? I think the whole damn album is ambient. Who's your source? lol, I'd put it in more of a dark ambient vein at times, but it does have a quality about it. Probably his oddest work.

my source is this guy i met up at the record store. he just moved here from new york. we talked for a while and discussed several things. it came down to me deciding if i wanted to pick up the album. i passed it up because i already stocked up on 60 dollars worth of merch. anyway, he explained it to me and actually noted its almost decaying to nothingness quality. like: blip.........echo........silence.....pop

some parts decay, but it never really decays to something hardly audible. It's basically just looped minimal darkness. I would still call it ambient though. The term "ambient" has a completely different meaning now than when Brian Eno coined the phrase. just like the word "techno" has. I wouldn't spend high dollar for it, but rather find it used somewhere pretty cheap. Glad you can find the things you did, I know I'll never find a store around these parts for merchandise such as that.
