I settled for an old, not very well mixed best of on Donna. I' m not complaining.
I've been a fan since the 'Lola' days. I didn't really hear their early stuff til later on Classic Rock Stations.

I'm starting to understand why people go all apeshit over the Arthur and Village Green period. I always thought they maintained a level of quality up to the Preservation Act stuff which I DON'T particularly like (one top tune from each set by my reckoning)
I stand by that.
Still, the stuff is real 'sophisticated', you know?
They seem to take the middle class to task and yet they seem to understand the appeal and the pleasures of the middle class in a way that is unique to rock and roll songs.

I really like the stuff where the 'English Music Hall' sound is most obvious.
Pretty keen on 'Muswell Hillbillies' these days, too.

Great song. "I like my football on a Saturday, roast beef on Sunday, alright."

In man’s evolution he has created the cities and the motor traffic rumble
But give me half a chance and I’d be taking off my clothes and living in the jungle

Cos the only time that I feel at ease
Is swinging up and down in a coconut tree
Oh what a life of luxury
To be like an ape man

IM AN APE MAN, IM AN APE APE MAN, IM AN APE MAN!
