I find The Darkness hilarious even though they are re-treaded cock-rock.

I love the Darkness, can't help it....
It's like Spinal Tap, but with good musicians, and good music

Perhaps the lead singer should move to the U.S. and get some dental coverage as his teeth are a mess. Of course I would't cover his dental needs, but john kerry might supply free dental work for all if he was elected. I do like the darkness' music. laura and I love to dance and sing along with it (you know, in that high opera like sound the lead singer has).

the darkness is really good IMHO, maybe some find it hilarious, but I think the singer's voice is amazing!!

I personally think that The Darkness are great - very tongue-in-cheek, but you can tell that they're serious musicians by the quality of their playing. There aren't many bands that have been able to introduce songs containing fretboard tapping and multi-layered guitar harmonies (ie "Love is Only a Feeling") into the British charts, so I think it's a refreshing change.
And they're influenced by Brian May, the closest thing I have to a God!

The Darkness suck. Ressurecting an old style of music, dressing like a drag queen and using shock value to sell your music doesent make you a totally awesome band. Hawkins is a fool.

I think this is exactly the point, in the sense of the fool as court jester, satirising the rock establishment. I've seen Hawkins interviewed and he is clearly an intelligent and witty man. He grew up with AC/DC and Iron Maiden, but was smart enough to realise that these days it would be pointless trying to launch yet another lame metal band on the British market, so what we've got from The Darkness is Queen in the style of Spinal Tap. The videos show that it is part rock band, part comedy act. The second album will probably come with a free Justin Hawkins blow-up doll, with real chest hair.
Now novelty bands don't generally last very long, so we'll see soon enough if there is anything more than satire going on here. People like David Lee Roth have been down that road before, and pretty much sank without trace. But look at the album sales...they appear to be doing something right. Hopefully Mr Hawkins will spend some of the money on a good dentist.

I myself own a copy of the Darkness' album - and it is fantastic after a few plays but then it just gets annoying - practically the same guitar solo over and over...sorta.
And WHY is Justin naked in almost every video? What make him think we wanna see THAT?!
But as far as I'm concerned, I don't see them as a 'novelty' group. They are classed as one, but I'd have thought after stealing the night at the BRITs 2004, they'd try and shake the label off.
Oh, and guys, guess who's next to try and break the states? Anyone?
Only the one and only BUSTED! Oh yeah, this is gonna be good. If I were an American I'd be like 'Why are they trying to sing like me?' It's their accents. I mean, sure the majority of singers use an American accent, but James uses it in INTERVIEWS!!! Surely the Americans are gonna start to think they've been sent as a joke...
So all you livin in America, I would like to apologize for Britains atrocious behaviour.
