The Disinintegration Loops I-IV...

Has anyone got/heard these? It's gotten amazing reviews and I want to get them, but am sceptical of hype (it's got a crazy story too) so might be an expensive gamble.

From Pitchfork http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record...on-loops.shtml

Hopefully

I read that review yesterday as well... don't know much about the artist or the CD box set. and it has 9.2 rating. that's a super high rating.

are you gonna get it sammuel? I think I am gonna read some more reviews and see what's up.

I really ain't sure yet Evil. I could get them one at a time, but they might lose their context/impact. Yet together, they'll cost me 80 bucks! I feel

ok...

I have all the William Basinski material, well, all the available material, other than the lp "red score on tile". I think the "DLS" are amazing, I love them all actually, and even "The River" is commendable. Not really fond of his Watermusic cd's, but then again it may appeal to someone. I'd recommend you buy Disintegration I first Samuel, then if you like that, buy Disintegration IV, because 1 continues as 1.2, and 1.3 as tracks 2 and 3 on that album. You can buy them separately at www.neptunerecords.com or www.strangefortune.com. A whole lot cheaper than his actual website. If you don't like at least the 1st in the 4 cd series, you won't like the rest. Beautiful piece of work that I need to eventually get original copies of myself once I can afford it.

handiest? Thanks, but I'd rather not take that title, but thanks again. Honestly, I can say that comment made me happy for once. Seems that some knowledge goes unnoticed, but am happy that something can be appreciated such as this. it's 12.97, by the way I've noticed this website before but forgot about it, thanks for pointing it out to me again. I may just have to purchase these now!

Umm... they must have changed prices when I was looking.

I must admit though, I half made this thread with you in mind; maybe "most knowledgable in a given genre" would be more digestable. Handiest sounds like your a builder or something...

there are many more people that have knowledge about electronic music as a wide spectrum of art and sound, although I tend to be the one to share the most of it. I will be modest because this is how I am. Looks like Basinski made an album with Richard Chartier. Oh, how I love experimental sounds
