After listening to these releases I have come to the conclusion that I find them boring.

well, i'm sure you're not the only one...they're not suppose to be exciting, by any means, so I can understand it.

Well, he's also got another new album called "Silent Night". It's suppose to be a follow up to the DLS

The rating on pitchfork is way too high. Personally, I would be pissed if I spent money on the disintegration loops, and I was pretty pumped after reading that review.

well, they are pretty damn minimal, yes most definitely, but they are concept albums. I would most definitely agree at 20 dollars a pop from the artist's website is asking way too much, but I do find solace in each disc.

You should love Silent Night, if you love DL I-IV.

It's a bit strange thinking, that Basinski's releases are recordings from 20 years ago. You think, that we are going to have to wait 20 years to see what he has been working on now?

Yeah, I think I'll really like 'Silent Night' as well, just haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet. Yeah, I know. The timeframe between his recordings are pretty crazy, although he did happen to make the actual DLS recordings in 2001 (or at least the beginnings) while the source material was recorded back in the late 70's. Nah, I think he'll actually continue to make music now since he's somewhat popular. His split LP with Richard Chartier recently probably helped him out a little bit.

I saw William Basinski live in Glasgow recently. As far as live shows go, I think tape musicans aren't the most thrilling to see, and he didn't really look like he had any idea what to do on stage. He was just stood there in a suit, occasionally adding a new loop of tape to his machines, while a big screen flashed some vaguely modern art-ish images.

The music was pretty good, but i presume it'd work better on headphones, in the privacy of my own thoughts.
