You know that my knowledge of jazz is rather unexisting up till now, but "Strange Fruit" from Billie Holiday is indeed a wonderfully sad song... It makes you feel angry about so much unjustice...

It is a touching song. The funny thing is, it's about the negroe lynching in the south, and it was written by a Jew, someone so far away of the subject, and still so realistic scary...

I checked out her version of Summertime. She is a talented singer , but I think Ella Fitzgerald is better .

Man... Ella this, Billie that. I'm not saying that theres anything wrong with liking them but its about as exciting to list as Miles Davis for favourite jazz musician. Its almost a given. Expand your knowledge (S A R A H V A U G H A N)

has anyone checked out Tiernay Sutton? yeah, she's something you hear on smooth jazz radio, but she's got a beautiful timbral quality to her voice! her pianist, on the album i first heard her on, has a nice Bill Evans-ish secondary dominant/Debussy feel to his playing. she's fairly new i believe, but i do not recall the album i was listening to.

this album consisted of an odd samba/tangoish Fly Me to the Moon, All the Way, Autumn Leaves and other familier tunes.
