I really liked Highly Evolved. My friend's got Winning Days and he says it's not as good as Highly Evolved but he likes it any way. I'm gonna give it a listen to see if I'll actually want to go out and buy it.

I believe it is because, if I'm not mistaken, in an article once, the head singer/guiarist of the vines said he wanted to BE like Kurt Cobain and Nirvana and had been greatly influenced by him. The comparing is brought up because the head singer started the comparing. I think the "3 member band head singer(screamer)/guitarist" thing has something to do with it too.
Anyways, I've not been impressed. Their lyrics really are shitty, I think anyway, but are leagues better than the other mainstream crap out there today, well, not leagues, but you get the idea. I've heard one song from the new cd, and to me it sounded like anything of their 1st cd. Nothing new, nothing great.

Just heard the whole new Vines album and it's definitely not as good as Highly Evolved. Don't think I'm gonna get it.

Nah, Highly Evolved was definitely better dude. I finally saw them live couple weeks ago and I can honestly say it was brilliance. Craig Nicholls is a mad genius, a modern music king who sometimes abuses and doesn't use his full potential. Back when the first album came out, The Vines were thrown into the same overhyped pot as The Strokes. Doesn't matter dudes, what it comes down to is the music. The band is for real and awesome.
