Elvis Presley v. Michael Jackson
Well, who do you think is better? Who do you like better, the King of Rock and Roll or the King of Pop? Hope this is an interesting discussion.

Think both have their traits.
Jackson was obviously a better songwriter, not just cause Elvis didn't write his material but Jackson was a good songwriter anyway.
They both had a brilliant stage presence as well, when they were on stage you felt they belonged there, but i'd probably give that nod to Jackson tho.
Elvis had the voice and done a lot for music back then.
I'd probably go with Elvis if i had to pick one but they both have their merits.

Elvis all the way... Though Jackson has his merits too...
And both were sad at the end of their careers...

Well, neither of them really knew how to handle their fame, did they?
Seriously, I have a hard time with this. I think I may like the music of them pretty much equally. Elvis' work is far more important historically and culturally, but Jackson is no lightweight, musically speaking.

Elvis rulez. Michael sux.
.....
Oh you were looking for something more informative?
Historically Elvis is obviously the greatest. He influenced about everybody who came after him. Michael Jackson influenced a lot of people too, but I don't feel I have to be thankful for that. Plus he made MTV popular (and vice versa), which alone should be enough reason to lock him up.
Musically..... Granted, Presley wasn't a songwriter and Jackson was - and not a bad one. Still, much of the music he made was crap. And I think Jacko's videos and shows distracted far too much from the actual music. Elvis recorded many classic songs and his voice and singing were great. So that's why.

Elvis Presley.
Michael Jackson is a great pop artist, but ive never really liked his music- ican appreciate being good, but its not my bag.
Elvis on the other hand is right up my Mozzer alley- lov him to death [no pun intended]. he's the quinessential rock star.
and even though Elvis went far down the downward spiral, Michael is far, far worse. Elvis was fat and disgusting at the end, Michael is grotesque and we're not even to the end yet- not to mention his extremely disturbing behavior.

Good matchup! They are/were both great entertainers and have definitely made their mark in history books. However, what Elvis did was more impressive and more significant. His influence vocally and culturally just brought a generation to rocknroll and bridged a gap between 'white' music and 'black' music. I would kill to have seen Elvis in his prime.

Culturally he was huge. Alot of people got into rocknroll after watching him and hearing him sing. Not to mention all the frontmen that got their moves and styled themselves after the King. He was the original 'frontman'.
He also was the first act to have extended recording sessions, which is baseline for every act nowadays.
