I also own Michael's albums and am not as familiar with Elvis Presley's music, but I don't like it as much or think it is really as influential to music today as is Michael Jackson's music. I think Elvis is one of those artists who goes in and out of fashion from time to time and when I was growing up I'd heard of Michael Jackson around the time of 'Bad', but it was actually later that I knew who Elvis Presley was. Anyway, I thought they would make an obvious and interesting comparisson, and they have.

Personally... Michael Jackson for sure. No matter how groundbreaking or daring Elvis was back in the days I've never cared for any of his songs. When it comes to pop , MJ is the man. Even though he's a freak and he has made alot of crap lately.

i detest both artists but would have to choose The Burger King Of Rock n Roll Mr Elvis Aaron Presley over Jackson.
MJ makes my skin crawl.

I feel the same way. Not really into the music of either artist but Elvis definitely way above Michael Jackson.

Think my Avatar makes it clear I think. MJ never changed so much in the musicbussiness as Elvis did. With Elvis youthculture was born. From then off Youth had their own little way of dressing, walking, talking and their own music. Elvis shocked lots of parents with his devilish hipmoving, and hickup singin. Mj only shocked with doin stuff to little children and his plastic surgery addiction, never had a big impact with his music. He does have some great songs, but nothing more I think.

I think Elvis' music is far superior to that of Jackson... There are some Jackson songs I like (and some Jackson 5 tunes as well)... But for me, this is not even a close choice... I'll take the King...

Elvis never wrote any of his own songs and he had 450 songs in total. He also stole from black artists and never really gave them their dues and paid credit to their influence in helping him to develop his style. Jackson wrote and composed many of his own songs and always paid credit to those who helped him get to where he was musically. He always referred to James Brown, Jackie Wilson and even Charlie Chapin as being great influences in his singing and dancing style. That for me makes him a true artist over Elvis.

Discussion has been made several times on Radiomute....

Elvis never stole... In those days it was normal people covered songs...... Elvis contributed more to music generally than Jackson ever did or will...... Elvis cleared the road for many artists after him, Jackson never did....
